Rev. Jimmy McClendon, pastor of First
Baptist Church Lake Washington, and Greenville Christian School
board member, held an informational meeting with family members and
students Tuesday night (July 8) in the Phil Wilkinson gymnasium on
the campus of GCS. During the meeting, he addressed the various
issues facing GCS this summer, including the financial situation,
the hiring of teachers to fill open faculty positions.
During the meeting, Brother Jimmy announced the hiring of a former
GCS headmaster, Keith Aycock as the new headmaster at Greenville
Christian. Mr. Aycock will return to GCS on Monday, July 15.
Enrollment at the school is down slightly, but mainly in the
elementary and middle school grades, and Mr. McClendon made an
appeal to those who had held off registering their students until
the very end to make the effort to enroll their students as quickly
as possible. In addition, the school board is asking Greenville
Christian supporters to prayerfully consider further financial
support of the school in this time of financial turmoil in the
Delta.
If you would like to donate cash or gifts in kind to the school,
please contact a GCS Board Member, or GCS Financial Secretary Donna
Manor. |
